Ciao! My name is Andrea
This is a bit about me and the concept behind my work
I'm an Italian photographer who has been living in Ireland for over five years. My passion for photography started when I began travelling solo. It became my way of capturing everything that was new to my eyes and preserving the feelings and emotions I experienced on those journeys. It was like keeping a visual diary.
From then on, I started bringing my camera everywhere. Later, I had the opportunity to photograph for a local newspaper, and my growing interest in storytelling led me to attend several photography courses and volunteer for the International Month of Photojournalism, held annually in Padua, Italy.
Why weddings?
My real interest in photography began during a solo trip to Cambodia. Some of the street photos I took there sparked a deeper interest in capturing daily life wherever something caught my attention.
Since then, I've been drawn to photographing everyday moments with a touch of humour, a passion I continue to explore through street photography. It was when I discovered the work of documentary wedding photographers that I realised I could combine this love for candid storytelling with the world of weddings.
Soon after, I had the great fortune to work alongside two humble and generous wedding photographers who mentored me and helped me take my first steps into the wedding photography world.
Why the documentary approach?
I believe that unposed, unstaged moments stay with us longer and touch us more deeply, because they are real. These moments carry emotional weight since you’re not busy thinking about how to stand, smile, or appear. You're just present.
Don’t get me wrong, I love taking portraits and posed photos too! But in my sessions, they take up a smaller part compared to the time spent capturing genuine, unscripted moments. This way, you can fully enjoy your big day without worrying about the camera.
Why Are Some of My Photos Grainy or Blurry?
Because memories are imperfect.
They’re shaped by time, emotions, and other life events. Photography, to me, is a way of preserving moments in a form that mirrors how we remember them: flawed, emotional, and honest.
A little blur from movement adds something extra. It tells us the subject was in motion, shows how they were moving, and highlights the energy of that moment. It brings feelings to life in a way that perfectly sharp images sometimes can’t.
These elements are often seen in editorial wedding photography with a documentary edge. While I don't strictly follow that style, I draw inspiration from it, and no, my photos won’t be in a fashion magazine anytime soon, and that’s okay.
My style?
I don’t like to categorise my style within a specific one. However, I’d say that my photography style is documentary with an editorial vibe, sometimes with a subtle touch of street photography.
